Andrus Jetty Caster Bucktail

The distinguished Andrus Jetty Caster Bucktails are well known among the surf fishing community for their quality and reputation for taking big bass.

The Andrus Jetty Caster Bucktail is made with lots of long premium bucktail hair.

Jetties, inlets and rocky surf is where the Andrus Jetty caster loves to swim. It is also very effective off of the sandy beach front sand bars of the Jersey coast as well as the south shore of Long Island. The back water, bays, bridges, flats are also great places to catch fish with bucktails. Most anglers fish the best selling 1.5oz size because it is great for all around surf and inlet fishing in a variety of conditions. It casts great and it gets down and swims in the current. Anglers fishing in high winds, heavy surf, very deep or fast moving water opt for the 2oz.

The Andrus Jetty Caster is not your ordinary bucktail. The Andrus Jetty Caster is a special bucktail which stands out from traditional bucktail jigs. The Jetty Caster originated as a bucktail lure for wire line trolling but it became the favorite for surfcasters in the Northeast and for good reason. The Jetty Caster has accounted for an amazing number of big bass due to the bucktail's design and build. First and foremost it is made with an oversized extra strong forged Mustad Hook. The next key feature is the Jetty Caster is tied with extra hair which helps the lure swim as well as avoid snags on bottom even on a slow retrieve. The extra hair also gives the Jetty Caster Bucktail its pulsating action in the water. Another major advantage of the Jetty Caster is its big brass eye which is easy to tie onto and even easier to clip onto.

Use the Andrus Jetty Caster with a 50lb mono with a good quality clip. Make cast - stop cast as lure hits water. Begin retrieve and jig lightly each third crank. Be aware for hit after jigging lure. Tip the jig with a trailer. A JC and an 70 pork rind is great and curly tail grubs and small shads work great too.

The key is to keep the lure moving. Start reeling (retrieving) as soon as the lure hits the water. Swim the jig, retrieve the lure at a steady speed. Occasionally twitch the rod to give it some erratic action. The extra hair slows the drop. Note that the JC can be swam just below the surfaces over shallow water reefs with lots of white water and also just above the bottom. All you have to do is vary how long you allow it to sink. Because of this bucktails are one of the most versatile lures ever made and also one of the simplest.
