Olde Salt Anchor Retrieval Ring Ring w/Clip

Say goodbye to tug of war with the anchor! Anchor rings make retrieving an anchor very easy and effortless by using the buoyancy of a poly ball buoy to lift and hang the anchor. Anchor rings are essential equipment when bottom fishing or any time anchoring a vessel in 50'+ depth open water and especially helpful when double anchoring.

An anchor ring works in conjunction with a rigged poly ball to lift and hang/float the anchor below the ball. To rig a poly ball get a 3' section of 1/2" rope and splice in the poly ball (sold separately) on one end and a heavy duty carabiner clip (included/ packaged with ring) at the other end.

How To Use: While still set tight on anchor, first take note of your compass heading and about how much anchor rode (line) is out. Second grab the anchor ring and put the rode through its opening and then clip the ring closed with the carabiner. Then toss the poly ball in the water. The ring will ride along the anchor rode. Next using the boat's engine, slowly power forward to slacken the anchor line. Untie from bow cleat and put on a strong through bolted cleat in the stern. Be sure it is secured with a couple figure eight wraps. Now start to drive at about a 35-45º angle to the anchored heading noted before for about 1/4 to 1/2 the length. The anchor rode should be going from where it is cleated off at stern in a "J" like curve with the poly ball away from the boat and possibly underwater by this point. Once more than 1/4 of the way or about half the distance, slowly turn back towards the original anchored heading (which should be straight into the drift, wind and/or current) and continue on. Watch for the ball to pop up behind the boat. Do not stop until the ball and anchor are planned up and slowly skiing behind the boat. At that point the boat can be put in neutral. Also turn the wheel over in the direction or side of the anchor line and ball in order for the boat drift sideways back towards the ball. Now pull in the rope hand over hand being sure to coil or organize the rope so it can be cleanly stowed so deploying next time is hassle free.
